The 15-18th of May. The 6th Chekhov Book festival took place in Taganrog. It was organized by Federal news agency and Mass Media of RF, the Ministry of culture of Rostov region, the Local Authorities of Taganrog, the fund “Pushkin Library” (Moscow) The Chekhov CPL took active part in organization of festival and received in gift about 1148 books from Russian public houses. –The 15th of May. The conference hall of CPL: One-man show “The ring and the rose” by W. Thackerayperformed by the Honored Artist of Russian Federation M. Morozov. The 16th of May. The concert and exhibition hall: - the opening of the 6th book exhibition “ The best books of Russia for Taganrog” -the project “ The favorite books of famous people from Saint Petersburg” .The books were represented and given to the municipal libraries of Taganrog -the meeting of the students and teachers of the faculty “The Publishing” Taganrog State Pedagogical Institute with the head of publishing house “Modern Russian Prose” E. Shubina. -the 16thof May. The conference hall of Chekhov library : -the public lecture about modern literature. The members of the lecture – the literary critic, writer, journalist N. Alexandrov and editor-in-chief of publishing house “OGY”, poet, translator M.Amelin. Librarians of special educational institutions, higher education institutions of the city, students of Russian State Social University and guests of the festival were present at the meeting. -Interactive conference “New forms of book advancement and acquainting young people with reading”. The members of the conference – the head of the educational and methodical center “School of library leadership” A. Lisitsky, the Honored Teacher of RF, director of the Center of education №109 (Moscow) E. Yamburg and the director of “International Centralized Library System named after M.Lermontov” (Saint Petersburg) S. Sereichyk -the meeting of library specialists with the director of “International centralized library system named after M.Lermontov” S. Sereichyk. Within the meeting the contract about interlibrary subscription between the libraries of Saint Petersburg and Taganrog was signed (120 librarians took part in the meeting). The 16th of May. Near the Chekhov Library: - the autograph – session, the members of which were writers, literary critics, prose writers, poets – guests of thefestival. The 16th,17th,18th of May. The Book Fair was set near the Chekhov library. The biggest book-selling organization of region “Rostovbook” performed the new books and editions of the writers – guests of the festival. -The 17th of May. The conference hall of Chekhov Library – the meeting with the famous writer, poet and play-writer V. Voynovich. (librarians, literary critics, teachers, students, pupils) . -The 18th of May. In the Garden near the Chekhov Library: -The action “Opened Microphone” for poets of Taganrog with M.Amelina. The closing of the festival. About 60 colleagues from different cities of Russia were present. Library community of Taganrog were presented by specialists of municipal libraries, city higher education institutions, schools, trade-union and departmental libraries (more then 100 people). More the 160 librarians Within the festival about 18 events, on which 5 000 people were present, were organized by the workers of the Library. |

Municipal library took a most active part in preparation and carrying out of festival and received in gift from the Russian publishers 1166 copies. May 15, in the concert-exhibition hall of the library named after A. P. Chekhov: · opening of the 8th book exhibition "The Best Books of Russia - to Taganrog". Books from the famous largest publishing houses of Russia were presented at the exhibition. 1086 people visited the exhibition. · The educational lecture "Lermontov's St. Petersburg in the History and Persons" for pupils of the Taganrog colleges, readers and librarians, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the poet took place. The lecture was given by M.A. Yakovleva, the research assistant of methodical department of library named after M. Lermontov. 90 people attended the event. · creative meeting of students of the Taganrog colleges, with the famous Russian writer, the publicist Evgeny Popov. The event was attended by 80 people. May 15, in the conference hall of the library named after A. P. Chekhov: ·The fourth scientific and practical conference "The Continuation of Chekhov: the 100th anniversary of building the Taganrog municipal library (F. O. Schechtel)". Not only librarians of Taganrog, Bataysk, Donetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Myasnikovsky district, Yaroslavl, but also art critics and staff of the museums of Taganrog and Moscow participated in the conference. May 15, near the library named after A. P. The participants were 112 library professionals from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, Rostov-Don, Rostov region, and the city of Taganrog. - meeting with Lyudmila Malyukova, the Doctor of Philology, the literary critic, the member of the Russian Writers' Union, the author of numerous books and articles about the Russian literature of the XX century was held in the concert hall of Chekhov library. - Meeting with a famous artist of Russia V. A. Chizhikov was held in the conference hall of Chekhov library. May 14: In the concert-exhibition hall of the library named after A. P. Chekhov: -creative meeting with the Russian writer, doctor of philological Sciences, literary critic E. G. by Vodolazkin. -creative meeting with the Russian writer, literary historian, and critic, winner of the award "Big book" and winner of other prestigious awards M. A. Kucharski. The festival "Territory of childhood" for children and adults with professional consultations, workshops, games, creative meetings, contests, quizzes took place in the municipal house of culture. The staff of the library named after M. Gorky took part in a "Literary picnic" in a public Park on the Playground "Lukomorye". (more than 500 persons). A round table-talk entitled "Traditions of patronage in homeland of A. P. Chekhov: Preservation and Development" was held in the small exhibition hall of Chekhov library. It was attended by the library staff, city, and Russian museums, writers, government officials and the business community, collectors and historians of the city. The main outcome of a festival – the books donated to urban libraries, schools, kindergartens. The festival united readers of all age, writers, artists, translators, librarians and all who are interested in the book and literature. 12708 copies of the documents were donated to the libraries of Taganrog from the first to the tenth book festival. |
